Funding Available For Implementing UXO Technologies

The Environmental Security Technology Certification Program (ESTCP) is tasked with managing a 2007 Defense Appropriation to execute a "UXO Innovative Technology Transfer" project. The purpose of the special project is to conduct evaluations of innovative UXO technologies at actual military munitions response sites in coordination with remediation project managers. The goal of this project is to accelerate the transfer of effective new technologies into field use, a long-standing challenge for DoD.

The ESTCP issued a notice to the Services seeking candidate sites for the program. Responses are due by 18 January 2007. The attached memorandum from ESTCP lists the basic information they are requesting from Munitions Response Program Managers interesting in participating in the program. Site selected for the program will essentially be used for a technology demonstration. The site managers get the use of the technologies (and the data) at little to no cost.
