Job Description:

Applies the concepts, policies, and guidelines contained in numerous standing operating procedures (SOPs)/Risk Assessments to thoroughly inspect and/or modify foreign and/or domestic ammunition or explosives. Before modification of domestic or foreign ammunition/explosives, reviews available models, drawings, x-rays and schematic diagrams. Formulates plans to safely and effectively modify ammunition for static detonation. Reviews test plans to ensure that all technical test requirements are met. Collects test data by preparing written inspection reports on damage to munitions before and after rough handling, packaging, or transportation tests or munitions that have been fired and recovered for analysis tests. Collects unserviceable, deteriorated and obsolete explosives and residue, ammunition and ammunition components from loading plants, test sites and storage areas.

Requirements:

Qualifications for individuals possessing certificates from Naval School Explosive Ordnance Disposal (NAVSCOLEOD): Four years total experience working with ammunition. Must be capable of obtaining an Ammunition Skill Levels I, II, and III within one year of employment. Possess or acquire a HAZWOPER Certificate within 6 months of employment. Possess or acquire Associate Test Director Certification within 6 months of employment.

Qualifications for all others: Meet the qualifications of an Explosive Test Technician III. Five additional years experience loading, assembling, and packaging ammunition. Must be capable of obtaining an Ammunition Skill Level III within one year of employment. Possess or acquire a HAZWOPER Certificate within 6 months of employment. Possess or acquire an Associate Test Director Certification within 6 months of employment. At least two persons shall possess a certification from either National Association of Underwater Instructors (NAUI) or Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) to include: basic open water self-contained underwater breathing apparatus (SCUBA); advanced open water SCUBA; deep diving; and rescue diver. Must be a U.S. Citizen and must be able to obtain and retain a security clearance. No relocation assistance is available.
