Truck Owner Surprised To Find Munition at Repair Yard

El Mirage, Arizona A man who dropped off his truck for a repair a few weeks prior stopped by the shop yard to check on it. When he inspected the truck, the man was surprised when he found a bazooka round in the bed of the truck. The man reportedly called police before transporting the round himself down to the police station.

The police examined the bazooka rocket round and suspected that it was inert. Just to be on the safe side however, the police had the EOD unit from Luke AFB inspect the item. EOD confirmed that the item was indeed inert and took custody of the item to ensure it would not resurface. Local police are looking into the man's claim that the police dispatcher initially told him to transport the item which is against standard protocol. It's unclear if it was bad advice given or just a miscommunication on the part of the truck owner.

Local officials have since re-issued a public announcement stating that anyone who finds a military-style device should call local authorities first and should not attempt to move or transport it.
