Old Munition At Marina Causes Scare
Plymstock, United Kingdom A customer at the Tony Hole Marine Boatyard called police when he noticed an old munition underneath a boat. Police rushed to the scene and cordoned off the area and called in a Royal Navy Bomb Disposal unit for support.
Royal Navy EOD arrived on the scene and quickly identified the item as an inert WWII era shell. Upon further investigation, the police learned that the bomb had been dug up when a new foundation was being poured for a building within the boatyard some 18 month prior. Apparently, the staff at the boatyard kept the old rusty shell around as a "keepsake".
