Neighbor Finds Old Dynamite Box

Left Hand Canyon, Colorado Police were called to the house of a 96-year old woman that recently passed away after an old wooden dynamite box was found by a neighbor. The box was labeled "DuPont Explosives, High Explosives" and had a date stamp of Oct. 9, 1950 on it.

Authorities are not sure at this time if the box contains actual explosives or merely non-hazardous debris. Old newspapers are stacked on the top of the box but x-rays show the potential for other material inside the box. Authorities are considering on-site disposal options including conducting an open burn of the contents.
