Newest Navy EOD Mobile Unit Deployed

EOD Mobile Unite Twelve (EODMU-12), the Navy's newest EOD Mobile Unit established on 10 January 2008 deployed today to the Middle East to Command and Control EOD and Diving Operations and to plan and execute Theater Security Cooperation events in support of Maritime Security Operations.

The 25 sailor unit is the first EOD mobile unit created from the ground up to deploy overseas as an entire unit. Nicknamed the 'Dirty Dozen', EODMU-12's headquarters element will be based in Bahrain, as part of Navy Expeditionary Combat Forces, providing command and control for all Navy EOD and Diving forces in U.S. Central Command area of operations outside of Iraq and Afghanistan.
