EOD Airman Killed From IED Explosion

Afghanistan Air Force Tech. Sgt. Anthony C. Campbell Jr., 35, of Florence, Kentucky, died of wounds suffered from the detonation of an IED in Helmand Province. Assigned to the 932nd Civil Engineer Squadron (EOD) based of Scott AFB, Campbell was responding to an IED discovery when it detonated. The military has not released any detailed information on the exact cause of the detonation.

Campbell served four years in the Air Force following high school and then spent the next ten as a pipefitter. During the decade as a pipefitter, Campbell continued to serve in the Air Force Reserves. Last December, Campbell joined the Cincinnati Police Department to serve his community. A few months later, his Air Force reserve unit was called to active duty to support the efforts in Afghanistan.

Anthony will be missed by his friends, family and the community where he lived and supported. He leaves behind a wife and three children.
