Beachgoers Find Sea mine At Popular Swimming Area

Kiev, Ukraine Beachgoers along the Black Sea reported a sea-floating mine less than 50 feet from shore. Police were called in and the beach was quickly evacuated. An engineer unit was brought in to provide technical support. The mine was counter-charged by the engineers in the shallow waters without incident. The exact type of mine was not reported but it was described as an anti-ship mine 6 feet in diameter. The beach, a popular swimming area was re-opened following the incident.
