Wanted Team Lead Remote Sensing Scientist
We are seeking a full time employee in the capacity of a Remote Sensing Project Manager. The Remote Sensing Group develops and deploys synthetic aperture radar (SAR), electro-optical, LiDAR, orthophotography, and hyperspectral imaging sensors for detecting and tracking natural and man-made phenomena. Group activity includes sensor development, systems integration, field deployments, and extraction of target and feature information via data collected from our fixed wing and helicopter platforms. Recently, our client has been awarded a large project to integrate several sensors into a single platform for detection of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and is seeking a Project Manager to provide focused effort to drive this project to a successful demonstration. Work includes coordination with airborne sensor developers (in-house and contractors), support of system architecture and integration activities, review and coordination of sub-system signal processing, data analysis and exploitation techniques, and coordination of field tests. Additional Project Manager responsibilities will include cost & schedule tracking, reporting and communication with all participating team members.
Job Responsibilities and Requirements:
The Remote Sensing Project Manager is responsible for technical and managerial oversight of a large, dynamic remote sensing project for the detection on IEDs. The candidate will work very closely with the Program Manager and General Manager as well as the flight operations team, staff engineers and scientists. This staff member will be responsible for directing technical development teams and requires excellent communication skills. The Remote Sensing Project Manager will also work with other senior staff to expand the base of business in this area. The candidate should have:
- A strong understanding of sensor and remote sensing processes
- A track record of technical leadership in the area of remote sensing
- Management experience with team composed of technical and non-technical personnel
- Strong skills in communication, project and personnel management
- Strong writing skills
- Ability to travel up to one week per month
- Masters degree or equivalent in relevant technical or scientific field
- 5-10 years experience in airborne remote sensing
- Secret (or higher) security clearance, or the ability to acquire
- Proficiency in LiDAR, orthophotography, SAR and hyperspectral techniques is a plus
- Demonstrated aptitude to quickly learn new technologies
- Demonstrated adaptability, flexibility, perseverance, and a positive attitude
Our client is focused on environmental remediation projects including the assessment and characterization of formerly used defense sites and the detection of unexploded ordnance (UXO) and improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
