Bathroom Remodel Turns Up Munition

St. Francis, Wisconsin A 70-year old man rehabbing his bathroom discovered a munition item buried behind the wall. The munition was found behind the installation in the wall that was removed to access the plumbing. The man pulled the munition from the wall and placed in the lawn next to his garage before calling police.

The St. Francis Police responded and called the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Department Bomb Squad for technical support. The bomb squad removed the item from the property and disposed of it offsite. The munition was reported as a live Korean war era mortar round.

Authorities suspect that the munition was a war souvenir from the sons of the previous owner homeowner who served in the Korean war.
