Recreational Scrap Metal Collector Injured From UXO

Gulfport, Mississippi Authorities including the Gulfport Police, Biloxi Police, and the BATF responded to a residential house after the resident, a 33-year old man, checked into the hospital with injuries sustained from a munition. Reportedly, the man was dismantling the munition at this house in order to recycle the metal when it exploded. During the inspection of the house, Authorities discovered numerous munitions (specific numbers and types not reported) requiring disposal. The munitions were safely disposed of on-site after neighbors were evacuated.

The origin of munitions is unknown at this time but a full investigation is underway. In the mean time, the 33-year old injured man who was brought the hospital by his brother is in critical condition.
