EOD Sailor Killed In Combat Operations
Helmand Province, Afghanistan Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Chad R. Regelin, 24, of Cottonwood, California was killed during combat operations. Regelin was assigned as an EOD technician to Marine Special Operations Company Bravo and was stationed at EOD Mobile Unit 3.
Chad died about an hour after speaking with his family by telephone from Afghanistan. Reportedly he had received orders to return to the States starting on the 15th of February and told his family how excited he was to be able return home. Shortly after speaking with his family, Chad's team was sifting through a crater and debris from a recent explosion when a second roadside bomb exploded. The badly injured Navy EOD technician was air lifted to a military hospital where he died from his injuries.
Chad is survived by his parents, a sister, and two brothers.

It never ceases to amaze me that we continue to be lucky enough to have these brave and dedicated young men and women step forward to go into harms way for us and this and this great country. May God Bless EOD 1st Class Petty Officer Chad Regelin and his family.
