EOD Responds To UXO Found Along Beach
Cumbria, England A fisherman walking along a beach near an old range found a UXO that reportedly washed ashore. The man notified the police who responded with the Coastguard. The police and Coastguard secured the area and called the Navy who dispatched a Royal Navy Bomb Disposal Unit to respond.
EOD safely disposed of the UXO, identified only as a Naval shell, through an open detonation shot. The location where the UXO was found was near Eskmeals Gun Range in Ravenglas, a small coastal town. The EOD unit is scheduled to sweep the area for additional UXO in the near future based upon tidal patterns which influence access.
