Vietnam-Era Munition Brought to School Leads to Death of Student

Quang Binh Province, Vietnam A boy was killed in Quang Binh Province, Vietnam, and another was seriously injured after one of the boys brought a piece of UXO left over from the Vietnam War to class at Le Hoa Secondary School.

The two 13-year old boys were reportedly playing with the UXO when it exploded in the schoolyard where students were out for recess. Their teacher reported hearing a terrifying blast at and looking out her window to see children running in panic away from the spot where the two boys were lying wounded following the explosion. Both boys were taken to an area hospital where one died from his injuries. The second boy is being treated and is expected to recover.
