Five Killed In Blast During Munitions Loading Operation

Moscow, Russia An explosion occurred at a firing range in Mulino (220 miles east of Moscow) killing five Russian soldiers and wounding three others. Reports indicate that the explosion occurred during the loading of munitions onto a vehicle. No other details have been released at this time.

Death Toll Rises From Munitions Depot Explosions

Brazzaville, Republic of Congo A short-circuit is being blamed for a fire at a munitions depot that resulted in multiple explosions and mass causalities. The explosions scattered an unknown number of munitions including artillery shells and rockets into surrounding densely populated areas. At least 246 are confirmed dead with concerns that the death toll could rise as firefighters and emergency responders comb through the massive debris field.

Over 1,300 injuries have been reported as well as 500 newly homeless as the explosions ripped through nearby homes. Concerns over unexploded munition kick-outs in the area have hampered response actions.

Over 1500 Shells Missing Believed Stolen

Southern, Israel Israel Defense Force (IDF) personnel discovered a major discrepancy during a routine storage magazine count from a facility in Negev, Ynet. The discrepancy included over 1,500 shells reported only as tank shells missing from the storage magazines. Authorities suspect the munitions were stolen over a period time to avoid detection.

Blast Rocks Munitions Depot - 3 Dead 1 Missing

Yahsihan, Turkey A blast at an Army Ammunition depot in the Kirikkale province killed at least three civilian security guards on the night watch. The blast occurred shortly after midnight in 4-story building reported as a TNT warehouse.

Stored Gunpowder Explodes Injuring 14

Quito, Ecuador 14 people including nine police officers and five civilians were injured when stored gunpowder unexpectedly exploded. The gunpowder was being stored at a police rescue unit headquarters. The explosion also caused damage to nearby buildings including a school. The cause of the explosion is under investigation. No details were available on the amount or type of gunpowder being stored or whether or not other munitions and/or energetic material was involved. Reportedly four of the five civilians injured were children.
