UXO Technician III - Pinecastle Range - Ocala, FL - Full Time CBA / Union Position
Ordnance Holdings, Inc. (OHI) a Tampa, Florida based unexploded ordnance (UXO) and engineering & environmental services company is looking for a well-qualified UXO Technician III position at Pinecastle Range in Ocala, Florida. Full time position under an existing Union Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
Minimum Education Level
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Graduate of a military Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) School at Eglin AFB or Indian Head, MD.
Minimum Experience Requirement
- Eight (8) years' prior military Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) and/or commercial Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) experience in range clearance operations, explosive ordnance recognition, handling, inspection, handling, retrieval, electric and non-electric demolition procedures, disposal and Material Potentially Presenting an Explosive Hazard (MPPEH) categorization and certification.
- Ability to speak, read, and write English.
Description of General Duties
- Performs reconnaissance and classification of UXO
- Identifies different types of military munitions, to include identifying whether a military munition's fuze is armed or unarmed.
- Supervise and assist with the excavation and recovery of subsurface UXO; Construction of UXO related protective works; Location of surface UXO by visual means; UXO-related operations including range clearance activities, range maintenance, and inspection and/or certification of munitions and range related debris being considered for transfer or release from Department of the Navy (DoN) control; Transporting and storing UXO assuring compliance with federal, state and local laws; and Demilitarization of UXO by detonation.
- Preparation of UXO disposal sites; Preparation and maintenance of on-site safe holding areas for UXO.
- Determine UXO related storage compatibility.
- Prepare explosive storage plans.
- Prepare UXO related administrative reports and standard operating procedures.
- Perform risk hazard analysis of UXO.
- Conduct site safety briefings as needed.
- Inspects MPPEH for the presence of explosive hazards.
- Certify MPPEH as Material Documented as Safe (MDAS) or Material Documented as an Explosive Hazard (MDEH) for transfer within or release from DoN control per current regulations, policies and standards.
- Complete and maintain MPPEH records and transfer documentation.
- Direct and assist with the removal, inspection, sorting, transport, placement and securing of non-hazardous munitions debris and range related debris in temporary holding areas.
- Direct and assist with the erection of UXO-related protective works.
- Supervise the preparation of electric and non-electric firing systems for the demilitarization of MPPEH and/or destruction of ammunition/explosives by detonation.
- Operate Global Positioning System (GPS) data collection system.
- Supervise the demilitarization of military equipment/vehicles for use as targets.
- Design and construct new targets for the Bombing Range.
- Supervise the performance of operator maintenance on range and contract tools and equipment in support of Bombing Range clearance and maintenance functions.
- Provides Time Sensitive Targeting and target development support as required.
Required Certifications/Trainings
- Must obtain and maintain Medical Examiner's Certificate in accordance with 49CFR 391.41.
- Must possess a valid state Driver's License.
- Must obtain and maintain ATF Explosive Possessor status.
- Must maintain current CPR/First Aid certification.
- Demonstrated by successful completion of the requisite training (DDESB TP 18, C4).
- May be required to obtain and maintain a state blaster's permit.
- Must meet Department of Defense Explosive Safety Board (DDESB) Technical Paper (TP) 18 requirements.
- 40-hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) training.
- 8-hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) Supervisors Course.
- 10-hour OSHA Construction Safety and Health Training and earned a Department of Labor Construction Safety Course Completion Card (as required).

Security Clearance Requirement: Secret Clearance Required
