One Man's Trash is Another Man's Bomb Scare

Medford, Massachusetts military ordnance thrown out with the trash prompted a response from Massachusetts State Police, Medford police, and Medford firefighters. The ordnance was discovered behind a trash can, according to Massachusetts State Police Director of Media Communications Dave Procopio.

State police bomb squad troopers also responded, determining that the device was an inert "practice round with no fusing [fuzing] system and hollow cavity," Procopio said. He also stated that there was no information as to who or why the ordnance was left there, "All indications are that the item was discarded by an unknown person with other nearby trash."
