UXO In Scrap Metal Explodes During Offloading

Kano, Nigeria The Kano Police Command confirmed that an explosion on the eastern bypass occurred and was caused by UXO rather than an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) following an investigation by their EOD team.

The Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, Hussaini Abdullahi, revealed that the UXOs were inadvertently transported with scrap metal and one exploded during offloading, resulting in five fatalities and several injuries. A total of nine UXO items were recovered post-incident.

The State Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, expressed condolences to the victims' families and reassured the public that there is no ongoing security threat, urging residents to report any suspicious activity to the police.
