WWI Artillery Shell Discovered at Popular Florida Beach

Indian Rocks Beach, Florida The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office (PCSO) closed the 15th Avenue Beach Access in Indian Rocks Beach and evacuated the beach after reports of suspect UXO. The PCSO called in the local bomb squad as well as the Air Force EOD unit at nearby MacDill Air Force Base to investigate the suspect item.

Officials stated that the object resembled a WWI artillery shell but lacked any identifiable markings. The device was safely removed and disposed of, allowing the beach to reopen.
