Old Munitions Discovered during Airport Construction

Pasay City, Philippines Construction workers alerted police and airport authorities after uncovering several old, corroded bomb items during excavation at the Juliet Extension Taxiway at Ninoy Aquino International Airport. According to officials, Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group (AVSEGROUP) EOD responded to assess and safely recover ten 50-pound inert general-purpose bombs and eighteen 25-pound inert general-purpose bombs.

They also noted that this was not the first such incident in the area, as a similar recovery operation took place a few days prior after the discovery of old military items found in the same complex. The recovered ordnance was transported to the AVSEGROUP headquarters in Pasay City for proper storage pending disposal.
