General Purpose (GP) Bomb MK 82 Mod1 is a free-fall, non-guided bomb that is equipped with variety of fuze combinations (mechanical, impact, proximity, electric) installed in the nose and/or tail depending upon the mission. The MK80-series was developed in the 1950s. All Mk 80 series bombs are similar in construction. They are cylindrical in shape and equipped with conical fins or retarding fins. They are fitted for both nose and tail fuzes to produce effects of blast, catering or fragmentation. |

The MK 80 series bombs can be deployed in numerous configurations including with various nose or tail fuzes and with or without snake-eye fins (retarding fins). Guidance packages can be added to some of the bombs. |
