The GBU-12/B IS A KMU-388/B guidance kit, which consists of a MAU-157/B computer control group and an MXU-600/B guided bomb airfoil group, attached to a 500-pound MK 82 general-purpose (lowdrag) bomb. The GBU-12/B differs from the GBU-12/B as follows: modified control fins with break off tabs have been incorporated to provide for high-/low-speed release configuration, centering springs for release configuration, centering springs for the control fins have been installed in the control section, a new improved thermal battery has been installed in the control section, and a new arming cable and a reconfigured arming wire guide have been incorporated.
