Description:
These small 8-oz. incendiary bombs consist of a tubular body of tin plate, roughly 1" in diameter and 8" in length. At one end is a steel plug fitted with a firing pin point. The other end is a tin cap carrying stabilizing vanes. The bomb contained a 12-gage shotgun shell that held a small propelling charge and a thermite incendiary charge. As the bomb descends, it is oriented in a vertical attitude, which upon impact causes the shotgun shell to fire. Ignition of the propelling charge ignites the thermite. This bomb was dispensed out of tubular racks, or from the large case illustrated above, which held 200 bombs.
