Description:
This bomb utilizes the empty bomb case of the bomb, demolition, 100-lb., Mk I. It is streamline in shape. Both longitudinal and circumferential welds join its sheet steel sections. Issued for training purposes only. The loading consists of a 2-pound bag of black powder, which is placed over and around the adapter booster of the tail fuze in the rear of the bomb. The remainder of the bomb case is filled with sand or other inert filler. Some bombs were not equipped with suspension lugs; a bellyband assembly provided suspension. The Mk. I tail fuze, practice, which is used with this bomb, has its booster cavity and detonator case filled with black powder instead of tetryl and mercury fulminate.
