Location: Fort Rucker, approximately 61,712 acres, is located in southeast Alabama.

Brief History: From 1942 to 1946, Camp Rucker served as an infantry training ground and housed artillery, tank, anti-aircraft, medical, and quartermaster troops. Camp Rucker was officially designated the U.S. Army Aviation Center in March 1955. It was renamed Fort Rucker in October 1955. In 1973, Fort Rucker became the center for all U.S. Army aviation flight training and since then, has continued its present mission to maintain and operate facilities and provide services and material to support the rotary and fixed-wing pilots for Army aviation, basic rotary-wing training for Air Force student pilots, aviation enlisted specialists and related test activities.

Range / Site Description: The Army range inventory identified two closed ranges/sites, one that was historically used as a rifle grenade/anti-tank rocket range and the other was used as a small arms range. Details for the sites are as follows:
Anti-Tank / Grenade Range - 54 acres - rockets, and rifle greandes.
Lake Tholoccco Pistol Range -- 1 acre small arms range.
