General Area: Rural area near Casa Grande, AZ Site Type/Program: FUDS Location: The former Williams Field Bomb Target Range #10 is located approximately 30 miles west of Florence, AZ in Pinal County. The site consisted of 640 acres. Brief History: The site was used for low altitude (missions to be flown below 500 feet) bombing training by crews from Williams AAF in Higley, AZ. The only improvements to this site consisted of the construction of aiming circles and a wooded pyramid structure at the target center. The aiming circles are still visible. There is a large amount of M38A2, 100 lb. Practice Bomb debris at the center of the target and scattered around the area. |
Range / Site Description: Associated Munitions: Activities Completed: The Archives Search Report for Williams Field Bombing Range Target #10 was completed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Louis District, in July 1996. Issues: The TAG has recommended that an EE/CA be performed on this entire FUDS due to the close proximity of a new sub-division that is being constructed there. Other Information: EE/CA |
