General Area: Niantic, CT Site Type/Program: Army Guard - MMRP Location: The site is located in the village of Niantic, approximately 40 miles southeast of Hartford, Connecticut and 35 miles east of New Haven, Connecticut. Brief History: Camp Rell was established in 1882 by the initial purchase of 65 acres and has been used as a mobilization site during most of the historical military engagements, including the Spanish-American War, World War I, World War II, and the Korean War. |
