General Area: , MT Site Type/Program: Army Guard - MMRP Location: Fort Missoula, approximately 51 acres, is located in Missoula County, Montana. Brief History: In 1877, Fort Missoula was established with the primary mission to protect settlers within the Missoula Valley. Throughout its history, Fort Missoula has served numerous military and non-military missions to include a school training center, headquarters for the Civilian Conservation Corps, and a World War II prisoner of war internment camp. Today, Fort Missoula serves as a Montana Army National Guard center. |
Range / Site Description: There are no operational ranges at Fort Missoula. The Army Range Inventory identified two closed and four transferred ranges/sites that were historically used as artillery impact areas and for rifle grenade/anti-tank rocket, hand grenade, and small arms training (a total of 4,558.54 acres).
