General Area: Anchorage, AK Site Type/Program: RCWM sites (Non-stockpile) Location: Poleline Road Disposal Area Brief History: 1940 Fort Richardson was established under the Alaskan Defense Force (ADF) command to protect Alaska against foreign attack. 1941 The ADF was re-designated the Alaskan Defense Command and was a staging area during WWII. 1950 Fort Richardson was divided between the Army and Air Force. 1991 The Army entered into the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) Federal Facilities compliance agreement. 1993 Fort Richardson was proposed for inclusion on the National Priorities List (NPL). 1994 Fort Richardson was approved for inclusion on the NPL. 24 October 1994 Seven CAIS were found. |
