Site Type/Program: Operational Range - Marine Corps

Location: The MCAS Cherry Point Range Complex is located in eastern North Carolina, approximately 100 miles northeast of Wilmington, 130 miles east of Raleigh, NC and 50 miles northeast of MCB Camp Lejeune.

Brief History: The installation was commissioned in 1942, at which point range activities began. Although some range locations and operational status have changed over time, the installation remains as a whole (including most of its ranges) in use today.

Range / Site Description: Size

MCAS Cherry Point geographically encompasses the onshore and near shore areas in and adjacent to complex’s boundaries. The Range Complex encompasses 13,164 acres of land area on the air station, 15,975 acres of land area for auxiliary activities

Associated Munitions: Small Arms, Smoke Grenades, Aerial Dropped Bombs, Pyrotechnics and Simulators, Bombs, Rockets, TOW Missiles, and Flares.
