Former UXO Site Sold To Developers

Western, Maryland - The Army inked a deal to see the former Fort Ritchie Army base located in Maryland to a commercial developer. The developer plans to build offices, apartments, condos, and single-family homes on about 1/3 of the property. Some of property acquired by the developer was a former range area where the potential for UXO dating back to WWI exists despite efforts by the Army to clear the area. The State and Community are looking forward to the development project as they see it as a key initiative to bring jobs back into the area since the void left by the closing of the base.
