Navy EOD Prepares to Conduct Follow Up UXO Disposal Operation on Kaho'olawe

Oahu, Hawaii A team from Navy EOD Mobile Unit 3 based out of Pearl Harbor are planning to spend a week on Kaho'olawe Island to clear and dispose of UXO found on the island. A statement published by the Navy regarding the planned operation referenced that a least seven small naval projectiles and less than 50 pounds of rocket motor propellant will be disposed of. The scheduled EOD disposal operation is the third of its kind since the Navy completed its UXO cleanup of the island a few years ago.

As part of the final agreements established for the long-term management of the island, the Navy is responsible for the cleanup and removal of newly discovered UXO. The image shows the typical landscape of the island. The image was reportedly taken during the UXO cleanup operation managed by the Navy several years ago.
