Home Remodeling Project Results in UXO Find

Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania a contractor remodeling a house on 8th Street found a military munition while removing some old floor boards. The contractor called the police who responded with the Pike County Bomb Disposal Unit providing technical support. The munition was identified as a Russian 52mm rocket shell most likely dating back to the Korean war. Police evacuated the area and locked down a nearby school as the item was removed from the house. The UXO was safely removed from the house and disposed of by the Bomb Disposal Unit without incident. Authorities suspect the item was a war souvenir that one of the previous homeowners hide in the house
