A Royal Bomb Disposal Event

Lincolnshire, United Kingdom Queen Elizabeth got the opportunity to detonate ordnance during her visit to Royal Air Force (RAF) bombing range Holbeach. The range located in eastern United Kingdom is used by RAF and other NATO aircraft for practice bombing and training.

The Queen originally planned the visit to RAF Holbeach to meet the then 62-year old manager of the range who was also a RAF Squadron Leader. Unfortunately, the RAF Range Manager did not have the opportunity to meet the Queen as he lost his life to cancer last December. The Queen however kept her promise to visit the range and was joined by the former Range Manager's wife and children for a tour of the facility.

The Queen was treated to a practice bombing and aerial gunnery demonstration. Following the demonstration, the Queen was given the opportunity to initiate the explosive charge set in place to dispose of the practice bombs.
