Grenade Found in Topsoil Delivery

Milton, New York A construction crew sifting topsoil onto a residential lawn was surprised when a grenade fell out of the front-end loader onto the ground. The workers called the police to report the unusual find. The Saratoga County Sheriff's Office responded with technical support provided by the New York State Police Squad. The bomb squad identified the grenade as live and reported that the grenade had been in the ground for a long time.

The grenade was safely transported and disposed of by the bomb squad. Authorities are conducting an investigation to determine where the topsoil originated from and if the potential exists for more munitions.
