Kids Play with Live Grenade Found Along Creek

Palo Pinto County, Texas local residents called authorities after seeing a grenade lying in a nearby creek bed. The local Sheriff's office responded to investigate. Once the sheriff determined that item was military in nature, he called the EOD unit based out of Fort Hood for technical support. Reportedly while the sheriff was on scene, several young kids approached him and said that they had played with the grenade earlier and were "throwing it up and down the creek".

The EOD unit responded and identified the grenade as a HE filled fragmentation grenade. The spoon and fuze from the grenade was reportedly missing. The EOD unit decided to blow the grenade in place with a counter charge. No injuries were reported but Authorities are warning residents to report any suspicious items found and urged parents to talk to their children about not handling or touching any items suspected of being a munition.
