Overview of Mine Action and UXO Operational Experience
Terry Collins served in the United States Marine Corps from 1981 thru 1992. He is a combat veteran honorably discharged after 10 years of service at the rank of Staff Sergeant (E6). During his military career he graduated from several military schools including; US Navy NAVSCHEOD, USMC Infantry School, US Army Basic Airborne, US Army Ammunition Technician School, USMC NCO and Staff NCO academies. Terry has continued to work in the munitions clearance industry after discharge from the Marines.
Terry has over 20 years of munitions experience working in government and private sectors contracts and over 10 years of experience managing and controlling landmine, unexploded ordnance (UXO) and explosive remnants of war (ERW) clearance projects. Terry has managed and conducted munitions clearance projects throughout the world to include; Afghanistan, Iraq, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Rwanda, Sudan, Chad and Libya. These projects included mine action task such as technical surveys, mechanical and manual landmine clearance, mine risk education, community awareness, EOD operations, UXO and ERW clearance.
He has been fortunate to work on and manage some unique and important projects such as the UXO clearance of the Sydney Olympic site, Kaho'olawe, Operation RIO and the CEA in Iraq, clearance of the US Embassy in Rwanda and UXO and landmine clearance support for infrastructure development in Laos and Vietnam.
