Military Munition Washing Ashore Along Cape Cod Beach

Truro, Massachusetts A local resident walking along a Cape Cod beach came across a suspicious object along the beach. Believing the device was explosive in nature, the resident reported the find to the police. The police responded with technical support from the Massachusetts State Police Bomb Squad. The bomb squad identified the item as a military munition and safely moved the item from the beach. The exact nomenclature of the munition could not be determined due to the poor condition of the munition. The state bomb squad has reportedly engaged the military to assist with the identification and proper disposal of the item.
