UXO Quality Control Specialist

Sky Research, Inc, (SKY) is a technology focused company seeking a UXO Quality Control Specialist (UXOQCS) to work on environmental investigations, and military munitions response projects throughout the United States. The successful candidate will work closely with management and technical staff in the execution of multiple projects in various phases of the remediation process. This is a dynamic position requiring strong organization, communication, schedule, and writing abilities. Flexibility and adaptability to shifting priorities is a requirement. The position will require travel to support SKY field work and meetings.

SKY's founders have provided over 30 years of aviation and technical expertise in the environmental remediation industry. SKY routinely executes projects that combine advances in research and development with proven methodologies to solve problems with Munitions and Explosives of Concern (MEC) unexploded ordnance (UXO), improvised explosive devices (IED) and landmines at operational and formerly used military installations, and abroad. Offices are located in; Ashland, OR, Centennial, CO, Hanover, NH, Boston, MA, and Vancouver, BC.

Essential Job Functions

  • Perform functions enumerated for UXO personnel at all levels, up to and including UXOQCS/SSHO and SUXOS, as defined in TP-18
  • Perform onsite quality control for demilitarization and demolition of MEC, storage and accountability of explosives, and supervise explosive and demolition operations as Blaster in Charge
  • Prepare, approve, and implement: explosive storage plans, UXO munitions and response actions, administrative reports, SOP's, UXO QC, safety reports, and AHA's
  • Perform Quality Audits, NCR's, and Corrective Action Reports
  • Supervise UXO field operations, inspect, certify, and control MPPEH, MD and MEC items
  • Assist in the overall management of UXO and MMRP projects involving UXO support
  • Assist with the corporate UXO Quality Control Program
  • Conduct daily site safety and operations briefings

Requirements

  • 5 years supervisory UXO experience
  • Supervise multiple teams
  • Assist in development of munitions response plans such as Explosive Safety Submittals, and Explosive Siting Plans
  • Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and MS Project
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with project team members and company management
  • Strong technical writing skills preferred
