UXO Safety Officer Position
LOCATION: Denver, CO
REPORTS TO: UXO Manager
STATUS: Full-Time, Exempt
JOB SUMMARY: Effectively manage health and safety risks for Sky Research and assure compliance with all planning documents and requirements on munitions-related field investigation and removal operations including "construction support" and explosives safety considerations. Work in close coordination with the UXO Manager and Corporate Health and Safety Manager (strong dotted line) to address organizational procedure development, coordination and execution.
In such capacity the duties shall include, but are not limited to:
- Development of plans (accident prevention, activity hazard analyses, contingency, etc.)
- Provide content and effectively present safety topics during daily and other safety meetings.
- Ensure that all work activities are performed consistent with project and regulatory agency requirements.
- Preparation of daily safety documentation.
- Management of safety incidents consistent with company requirements.
- Assure that all near misses and incidents are reported promptly and accurately.
Responsibilities:
- Perform functions enumerated for UXO personnel as defined in TP-18
- Develop and implement health and safety programs in compliance with applicable DoD, ATF, DOT, OSHA, state, and local health and safety statutes, regulations and codes for the purchase, storage, transportation, and use of explosives and conduct of all field operations related to the investigation, characterization, and management of munitions.
- Analyze operational risks, explosive hazards and safety requirements.
- Establish and ensure compliance during all site-specific explosive operations.
- Ensure that MSDS are accurate and up-to-date.
- Enforce personnel limits and safety exclusion zones for explosives related operations.
- Conduct, document, and report the results of safety inspections to ensure compliance with all applicable explosives safety policies, standards, regulations and codes.
- Operate and maintain air-monitoring equipment required at sites known or suspected for airborne contaminates.
- Ensure all protective works and equipment used within the exclusion zone are operated in compliance with applicable DoD policy, Department of Defense Explosives Safety Board (DDESB) approvals, and Federal, state, and local health and safety statutes, regulations and codes.
- Assist in development of munitions response plans.
- The position will require travel to support SKY field work and meetings.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS:
Education:
- Graduation from a DOD Explosive Ordnance School in the U.S.
- Minimum 30 hours of corporate safety training
Experience:
- At least 8 years experience in the EOD/UXO field.
- Experience in all phases of munitions response activities.
- Assist in development of munitions response plans such as Explosive Safety Submittals, and Explosive Siting Plans
