UXO Found Among the Debris of Phoenix Fire

Phoenix, Arizona Luke Air Force Base munitions experts were called to the scene of a massive industrial fire affecting at least six businesses, when officials found military-grade ordnance. The EOD team found dozens of tubes for explosives, but only three were determined to be live.

Investigators believe a person may have purchased cases from a military surplus not knowing that they contained live munitions.Police closed the west Phoenix industrial area for several days as federal, state and local investigators worked to identify where the devices were being stored.

It is still unknown if the explosive devices actually sparked the fire. Thanks to the hundreds of first responders, no injuries were reported.
