"Fun Find" is Actually Military Mine

Levy County, Florida Sheriff Deputies secured a live military mine after a Bronson man found it while clearing land. The man contacted the Levy County Sheriff's Office after finding an M18A1 Claymore. The mine, filled with shrapnel, is designed to fire in one direction.

The man called a friend with military experience to examine what he thought could be a fun relic to possibly display at the local VFW. Unfortunately, the "fun find" was deemed live, despite the fact that it was missing its blasting cap. A bomb squad secured the Claymore and arranged for the ordnance to be picked up by U.S. Navy EOD.
