EOD Recovers Grenades From Recycling Facility

East Devon, United Kingdom An EOD team was called to investigate three grenades found at the Knowle Hill Recycling Center after an employee reported the suspicious finds. EOD confirmed recovering one live and two spent smoke grenades from the site.

After EOD safely removed the items for proper off-site disposal, a Devon County Council spokesman released a statement which read in part: "These closures have been avoidable and have wasted valuable time and resources of the police and bomb disposal teams, as well as recycling centre staff and have led to the inconvenience of other site users.....Explosives/ammunition/flares and Fireworks must not be taken to Devon's Household Waste Recycling Centers. If you wish to dispose of ammunition or ordnance, whether potentially live or spent...please contact the police in the first instance. Otherwise it causes unnecessary disruption and inconvenience for other site users and, even more seriously, it can also put site staff and other customers at risk of harm."
