Public Warned Not To Handle UXO

Grouville, Jersey (Channel Islands) Authorities are warning residents of the coastal town not to handle any ordnance items found along the shoreline. The stern warning came after pictures emerged on-line of metal detector enthusiasts handling a WWII era shell.

Although the local residents who found the ordnance were not injured, the potential is there as the Germans used the area for target practice leading up to WWII. Anyone who finds ordnance is urged to leave it in place and notify the police.
