Ordnance Found In Basement

Charleston, South Carolina An ordnance item was discovered by a group of electrical workers who were beginning a job in an empty building on Gillion Street in Charleston. The suspect item was found in a corner of the basement.

One of the workers carried it to the parking lot before the crew realized the potential danger and called authorities. City and state investigators examined the device, determined to be a Civil War era artillery shell. U.S. Air Force EOD took possession of the fuzed shell for safe disposal.
